If you haven’t heard already – this week is small business week!
Our government knows that small businesses are the backbone of our communities and our economy.
That’s why this week we announced tax measures designed to help small businesses, including those in Ottawa Centre, succeed and grow.
We’re lowering the federal small business tax rate from 11% to 9%. This is exactly what we said we’d do.
I met with small business owners this fall to learn more about how tax changes would impact their operations and I am happy with this announcement. We are able to help the businesses in Ottawa Centre who are making our community a stronger place to live and play while reducing unfair advantages that only benefit the wealthiest 1 per cent.
Because of actions we’re taking – including reducing taxes for middle class Canadians and implementing a Child Care Benefit:
- Our economy is growing faster than it has in over a decade
- We’ve added 400,000 new jobs in the past year
- And our Canada Child Benefit is bringing 300,000 kids out of poverty.
We know that when you have an economy that works for the middle class, you have a country that works for everyone.
So during small business week let me say this – thank you to all the small businesses in Ottawa Centre and around the country!
