During the 2015 election campaign I had many conversations with youth in Ottawa Centre, who shared with me the difficulties involved in finding meaningful employment. Since the election, I have formed a Youth Jobs Advisory Council to help me address this critical issue in our community.
Together, we held a Youth Town Hall at Shopify in February 2017 to connect with young people who are looking for jobs. One concern we head from participants was that they don’t know where to start looking for employment and often aren’t aware of the services that already exist in our community. As a result, the Council and I have put together a list of resources that focus on hiring youth and equipping them with the skills necessary for work such as volunteer programs and resume-building workshops.
Please note that this list is not comprehensive; if you think we missed out on any organization or program, please do not hesitate to send your recommendations to email@example.com.
