For many Canadians, having to travel to find income tax forms and guides each year can be inconvenient. In Ottawa Centre, this is especially true for people with mobility challenges. Our government wants to make it easier for Canadians to receive the credits and benefits they are entiteled to.
That’s why Minister Lebouthillier announced two important major service changes at the Canada Revenue Agency to improve the tax-filing experience for Canadians.
- The Canada Revenue Agency will be automatically mailing paper tax forms and guides to anyone who filed their taxes by paper the previous year.
- There is now a “File My Return” automated phone service for individuals on low or fixed incomes. Eligible individuals will be able to file their taxes simply by answering a series of questions over the phone. This is a free and secure service to use.
